The V project: Part 8

Long time no see Vee. 

She definitely hasn't been abandoned but my PC is getting real old and this project is getting heavier and heavier so work is not the most pleasant. Good thing I'll have a PC update planned for next year :D

Right now I'm detail sketching, so just making sure I have the right amount of details before I start to properly model them.

I finally had enough time and motivation to start catching up with Substance Painter. It's been like 3 years since I last properly used it so I'm gonna feel like an idiot for a month or so. 

Wanted to do a model that would be fun to play around with, and that has a couple of clearly different materials for both organic and hardsurface tests.

The V project: Part 7

Enough of other projects, time to get back on this.  

Latest update:

Finishing up the last major design elements before I really start to focus on detail and polish. Earlier I decided to go with the hazmat suit option, so I pretty much continued where I left off, did some edits here and there but otherwise the main design still feels like it works. Now I have to start really picking this apart and especially focus on the armor and boots which need most work.

Also had fun with Photoshop's hue adjustments and made some color scheme tests to see if there would be any better ideas. Most are absolutely horrible but there might be ok ones there that would work as skin variations. I call the main row Unicorn Vomit, Color blind army, Outrun Radiation and Unit-01.

The V project: Part 6

General / 21 May 2018

Hello guys, time for some updates. I started a Polycount thread to avoid spamming this blog too often, but updating this in bigger batches as well. I should really update the Wild West challenge but work is black on black so I need to do something fun to reset.

Wanted to make sure the head topology works well since she's quite a lively character, so made a few expression tests. Teeth are really hard to do man, I didn't have a good base.

Also a new design (3), more of a traditional hazmat suit which I ended up liking. Currently I'm pretty happy with my options so I just need to decide which elements to keep which to update and which to throw away. 

Plus silhouette testing with the weapon. Being too close to Ana was my biggest fear but the weapon type helps a lot. All of these are very heavy-looking poses so I'll try a few with a lighter weapon at some point. It only has a one big tank so it's probably not that heavy to handle.

Posing in ZBrush with Dynamesh topology is a pain in the ass, especially with the long labcoat.
